E.S. Malaika
I had the pleasure of meeting Sewa Emojong (aka E.S. Malaika) at the 2021 Australian Songwriters Conference, as creative artists around Australia adapted to a post-Covid world.
After the conference, I put out a call to action for anyone who wanted to write with me in 2022 as part of my 22 co-writes for 2022 challenge. Sewa was the first to respond and over the course of the year we penned three songs.
This involved many video chats and we were able to write in real time as well as sending ideas in the middle of the night when sparks of inspiration would hit us out of the blue.
Now in October 2023, she is releasing our first song, Losing My Smile as part of Mental Health Week in Australia. She has a very groovy and modern sound, so, if you’re looking for something different to put into your playlist, check her out!
