I’ll try and keep this short.

When I’m stressed, I write.

Worried? I draw up an exit plan.

In love; I pour my heart out.

Angry, I vent my fury.

I’m not known for sending brief text messages.

Where I fail to express myself verbally, I shine with the written word.

It’s been a lifelong journey experimenting with different creative categories to discover (purely by accident) that writing songs is what I’m meant to be doing.

For as long as I’ve known, words have been my solace.

In 2008, I wrote my first lyric; inspired by the native beauty of our new home on NSW Central Coast.  As the stanzas took shape, I found myself immersed in a world of creativity, fuelled by an insatiable desire to capture life's moments in song.

The Internet became my Teacher.

By offering me a wealth (and world) of resources about song-writing, I devoured every tip, advice, technique I could get my hands on.  I purchased and read books cover to cover; finding myself swamped with song ideas at every turn.

Nothing was off limits.  Why was this craft so compelling?

Why have I continued to write for over 15 years?

Eventually I discovered online challenges like FAWM (February Album Writing Month), 50/90 (50 songs in 90 days), and Song Fancy’s 5 in 5.  These proved instrumental in honing my lyrical prowess.

By chance, I came upon the Australian Songwriters Conference website (or perhaps it was Fate?) and urged its revival to the Founder.  There I discovered that I’d need to master the art of co-writing; while expanding my circle of songsmiths.

This changed my creative direction in ways I’d never could’ve imagined.

In 2022 I had my first independent charted No 1 song – Fireflies by Andy Penkow -   fourteen years of persistent writing, refusing to give up on my dream to one day be nominated (or win) a Gold Guitar Award was starting to pay off.

Today, I collaborate with artists near and far, weaving words and melodies that resonate with audiences worldwide.  I expect to be buried with my pens.
